Nowgen appoints new Professional Training Manager

Nowgen, a leading centre for genetics in healthcare, has appointed Dr Angela Davies as Professional Training Manager. In her new role, Dr Davies will take responsibility for managing Nowgen’s professional training programme in the area of genetic medicine and related technologies.

Dr Davies’ role involves the development and delivery of courses for health professionals, members of the clinical and research genetics community, industry and non-specialist audiences, including secondary school teachers, and will build on Nowgen’s well-established programme of courses on human genetics and related subjects, reflecting the advancements in technology and research.

Commenting on her appointment, Dr Davies said: “Genetic medicine is an exciting area of healthcare. As part of Manchester’s Biomedical Research Centre in Genetic and Developmental Medicine, Nowgen’s training programme will help ensure that the introduction of new genetic technologies in medicine will be supported by a relevant and effective training programme.”

Having gained her PhD in molecular biology, Angela then worked in the pharmaceutical industry, including at AstraZeneca, firstly as a post doctoral researcher within the area of mammalian protein expression and then as a protein scientist.
