Nowgen at Big Bang Fair, March 2010

Nowgen, leading centre for genetics in healthcare, took part at the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair 11-13 March, aiming to excite school students about science.

Young people took part in Nowgen’s fun science activities about the human body: covering topics such as looking at how much DNA we eat every day and what a stem cell looks like.

The idea behind the Big Bang Fair is to enthuse young people about the possibilities of career in science or engineering. This was Big Bang’s second annual event and was held in Manchester. Over 12,000 visitors, mostly young people, took part either visiting with their schools or visiting in groups of family and friends. Nowgen took a stand within the NWDA (North West Development Agency) section of the fair. The 2010 Fair was a focal point for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) community in the North West and nationwide to engage and enthuse young people. There were over 70 organisations from business and industry exhibiting and running workshops and activities. http://www.thebigbangfair.co.uk/
