Nowgen appoints new Professional Training Officer

Nowgen, a leading centre for genetics in healthcare, has appointed Kate Mulryan as Professional Training Officer. In her new role, Kate will develop Nowgen’s programme of education and training courses in genetics for health and industry professionals and will also work on Nowgen’s workshops for students and teachers.

Kate’s last role was at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research in Manchester where she worked for 12 years, progressing from Research Assistant to Senior Scientific Officer responsible for the smooth running of the lab, and carrying out research into immunological therapies to cancer using 5T4 a tumour associate antigen.

Kate graduated from Liverpool John Moores University where she studied Applied Biochemistry. She also studied yeast genetics at Staffordshire University and worked on a P2X1 knockout mouse at The University of Leicester.

Outside work, Kate has an interest in counselling and volunteers for First Steps to Freedom a charity involved in anxiety disorders
