DYSCERNE is a European network of Centres of Expertise in dysmorphology, led from Manchester, with Nowgen as a base for the UK team. Dysmorphology is the branch of genetics concerned with the study of birth defects or malformations which have recognisable patterns of growth, development, behaviour and physical features. DYSCERNE aims to raise standards for the diagnosis, management, and information dissemination of rare dysmorphic conditions.

The main partners in the project come from six EU Countries with designated centres of expertise in dysmorphology including: UK, Belgium, France, Italy, The Netherlands and Poland. The lead partner in DYSCERNE, with responsibility for the overall management and coordination of the project is the Nowgen DYSCERNE team (The University of Manchester).
