Karen Tricker joined Nowgen in January 2005 as the Project Co-ordinator for the TARGET Study. This prospective randomised controlled trial is designed to assess the clinical utility and relative cost effectiveness of a pharmacogenetic test, for use in patients treated with azathioprine for inflammatory conditions.
Karen has experience of working on a number of rheumatology clinical trials at the arc Epidemiology Unit at The University of Manchester. Prior to this, Karen was working on epidemiological studies of hereditary aspects of childhood and early-onset adult cancers to determine the age, site and sex specific cancer risks of individuals belonging to families with the cancer predisposition condition, Li Fraumeni syndrome. Penetrance and expression of cancer phenotype were evaluated amongst carriers of the TP53 gene mutation causing this condition.
Karen has a PhD from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a degree in Zoology from the University of Manchester.
