NHS Community Engagement Week

The Nowgen Centre recently opened its doors to our local community as part of the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Community Engagement Week.

From 30 March to 3 April, staff from across the Trust gave practical demonstrations, discussed their work, and ran some clinical services for the visiting public. Highlights included clown doctors from the Manchester Children’s Hospital, and sing-alongs with the Trust’s Pastor.

Members of the Nowgen team were involved in showcasing Our Kid, an interactive exhibit highlighting Manchester’s healthcare research achievements, and delivering Do-it-yourself DNA, a practical laboratory workshop introducing DNA technology. The Community Engagement week was a great success, attracting over 1,000 visitors to The Nowgen Centre.
